Good day from Classic Swing Golf School!

Good day from Classic Swing Golf School!  The days are sunny and warm and Classic Swing continues to help lower the scores of weekend players, fine tune the skills of advanced players, and give beginners the fundamentals necessary for a future of enjoyable golf.  A while back, I spoke of a program called The First Tee of the Grand Strand.  Here's a recent article you may enjoy:

The organization, which teaches golf and life lessons to area youth and also oversees operation of the First Tee of the Grand Strand, staged the largest fundraising golf tournament in the history of Brunswick County last year with 512 players.

With an extra nine holes at St. James Plantation in Southport, N.C., available, the organization has spots for 576 players this year in the second annual Future Generations Tournament. It will be held June 2 on St. James’ four courses – the 18-hole Reserve Club, Players Club and Founders Club, and 27-hole Members Club.

“We’ll get as many golfers out there as we absolutely can with the intention of raising the most money for the kids in our program as we possibly can,” said First Tee of BC executive director Rebecca Albin.

The tournament format is captain’s choice with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. The team entry fee of $380 will cover a boxed lunch, cocktail hour with complimentary beer and wine, dinner and entertainment. The event will also feature live and silent auctions, door prizes and a raffle. Only full team reservations are being accepted.

Net proceeds will support The First Tee’s year-round programming. The First Tee of BC says it has reached more than 9,000 children in the past six years. To register or for more information call 910-754-5288 or visit www.thefirstteebrunswickcounty.org.

“It’s the biggest tourney around, and it’s for a great cause,” said event chairman Wayne Moody.

The First Tee of the Grand Strand is planning a fundraising event Aug. 25 on two courses at Myrtle Beach National Golf Club. Additional details are still being worked out.
