When it comes to planning a golf vacation, few places come to mind faster than Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. With approximately 100 courses to play, including courses designed by the likes of Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Greg Norman, Myrtle Beach offers some of the finest and most diverse golf experiences in the United States.

Myrtle Beach’s golf heritage dates back to before the Great Depression when Pines Lakes Country Club first opened in 1927. Prior to that, the coastal area was a largely uninhabited and undeveloped wooded area. In the early part of the twentieth century, a lumber firm, Burroughs and Collins, began to develop the area as a seaside resort with Mrs. Burroughs suggested the name Myrtle Beach, the rest as they say, is history.

Today, the Myrtle Beach area receives nearly 15 million tourists per year, including golf-starved snow birds who head south during the winter, trading their snowshoes for golf shoes. Myrtle Beach has also been the site of PGA, LPGA and Senior tour events and the Dunes Golf and Beach Club, designed by the famed Robert Trent Jones, is rated as one of the top 50 public course in the United States.
