Good afternoon from Myrtle Beach SC!!! We’re having exceptionally beautiful weather and seasonal temperatures here this week. If you live here or are just visiting, get out and enjoy a round of golf (or a golf lesson). There are plenty of courses to choose from; as far as golf instruction and training goes, Classic Swing Golf School has the program for you.
More on that later, first I want to mention the big news this week. Tiger Woods has agreed to play the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am for the first time since 2002. The February 9-12 event will be Woods first US event in 2012.
Great sports events often come down to great matchups and the organizers of the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am are looking to create one. According to one report, the tournament wants to team up Tiger Woods with Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow.
Brian Hewitt of GlobalGolfPost reported that according to a highly placed source at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, the tournament is strongly considering issuing an invitation to Tebow.
Initial reports from the Pro Am had Woods paired him with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. While that sounds intriguing, some things have to happen first. Woods and Tebow would have to agree to it and Tebow would first have to agree to play in the event.
Tebow and the Broncos are preparing for a Saturday night AFC divisional playoff game with the New England Patriots.
Should the Broncos beat the Patriots, Tebow-hysteria would grow and likely make the Pebble Beach organizers try even harder for the Tebow-Woods pairing. Also expected to play is Tom Brady.
The Super Bowl will be played Feb. 5. The AT&T is scheduled for the following weekend.
It has been a while since there was so much interest and anticipation in the field for the Pro-Am. The pairings aren’t set to be announced until Feb. 7, the Tuesday of tournament week. Nutt, president and CEO of the Monterey Peninsula Foundation, said the tournament has been in touch with Tebow, and hopes to hear by the end of the week if he accepts the invitation to play.
Pebble Beach regular star Bill Murray stole the spotlight last year when he teamed with D.A. Points, who captured his first PGA Tour event.
