The
November issue of GOLF Magazine recently hit the newsstand with a
picture of Sergio Garcia on the front cover. Also on the front cover
was the headline, “Fix Your Game in a Weekend, Top 25 Golf Schools in
America.” Inside the issue is a fold out with a listing of the Top 25
Golf Schools in America as ranked by GOLF Magazine and the Classic
Swing Golf School is once again on the list. Wow! Yeah! Surprise,
Surprise! An even better surprise was seeing that the Classic Swing
Golf School is the most affordable of all of the Top 25 Golf Schools.
Also this month, we completed our first Peak Performance School and
finished our indoor learning studio with net, cameras and mirrors.
The
Top 25 ranking is an honor and a blessing. We could not and would not
have received this accolade without you, the student, feeling good
about your experience at our fine facility and enjoying a curriculum
that is helping your game. Please take this as a personal thank you,
and I will continue to improve our learning environment and quality of
instruction to make your experience the best and most affordable school
available.
Reflecting
back on the August newsletter about my Titleist Performance Institute
(TPI) experience and study of Golf Performance Fitness Training, our
first Peak Performance School was conducted the weekend of October 11
and 12. Although we had a rainy weekend, the diagnostic testing, self
assessment, short game skills challenge, and a thorough workout regime
were conducted. We were also able to do intense full swing video
training thanks to the completion of our new indoor swing lab. No more
rainouts!
Stretching
is a part of the curriculum in our three day school, alumni Scoring
School, and the Peak Performance School. In the last month, we have had
a 90 year old graduate of the three day school and the Peak Performance
School included Ralph, age 62, and Ernie, age 74. This illustrates to
me the love for golf is a passion, and it is not age discriminatory.
Also the golf stretches we are sharing seem to have an immediate impact
because some of our students are leaving here much more flexible than
when they entered our door. The following are the top three stretches
we conduct:
1) The criss-cross stretch with a turn to promote the importance of upper torso flexibility
2)
The waist-bend with extension is for the lumbar and thoracic regions,
the lats, and arms. It also isolates the hamstrings and glutes while
keeping the knees locked
3)
The Power Fan is our favorite training aid for increasing clubhead
speed, but it is also a great stretching tool. If you are looking for
distance, then The Power Fan is golf’s number one teaching aid to
stretch and strengthen golf specific muscles from head to toe.
If
you are looking to implement a golf workout program this winter, then
give us a call for the thirty-five minute Yogalates on Golf DVD that we
endorse. This is a combination of golf yoga and golf pilates and is a
wonderful workout. It is $20 plus shipping and handling.

Criss-Cross Stretch. Start
at the address position with a good golf posture and then rotate your
upper body as if making your backswing, into the downswing, and on to
thefollow through and finish. |

Waist-Bend Extension. Use a golf club to balance yourself, lock your knees, and bend at the waist while keeping your back flat.
|
Swinging the Power Fan can help increase clubhead speed and flexibility. |

Also,
if you would like to order a Power Fan to incorporate into your off
season golf workouts, please give us a call toll free at
1-800-827-2656. Through the end of November you can get a Power Fan for
$44.95 (regular price - $49.95) plus shipping and handling.
Also,
it is not too late to sign up for the November 7-8 or December 12-13
Peak Performance School. Both sessions are still available and
information on the Peak Performance School can be found in the August
2008 newsletter (http://www.classicswing.com/newsletter/august-08.htm)
